Run a Network Test
There are several ways to run a network test on a BrightSign player.
Diagnostic Web Server
The DWS: Remote Access can be used to run network diagnostics. The player must be accessible either over the internet or over the local network.
With BrightSign Author, go to the Network tab, find the player in the list, and click the settings icon (gear icon) next to the player.
If you are not using BrightSign Author and the player is accessible over the local network, you can access the player's Local DWS:
- Get the IP address of the player (see this pagethis page).
- Type the IP address of the player into a web browser.
Go to the Diagnostics tab.
Under Network Diagnostics, select Run Diagnostics .
BrightAuthor Classic
If you are using BrightAuthor Classic, network diagnostics can be run while installing the player's setup files.
Go to Tools > Setup BrightSign Unit.
Click Advanced Network Setup, select Diagnostics, and check the Enable Network Diagnostics box.
Check the boxes under Enable Network Diagnostics to test desired interfaces. See here for more info.
Insert an SD card with the setup files (with network diagnostics enabled) into the player.
Power up the player. It will run a network test, display the results on the screen, and then continue the normal setup process.
